Instructions for laying geomat

In order for building structures to gain greater strength and reliability, construction companies widely use geosynthetic materials, which contain one or more polymers of natural or artificial origin. The main advantages of these materials are high durability, resistance to adverse environmental conditions, as well as microbes and fungi, increased adhesion and many others.

In order to effectively strengthen banks and slopes, eliminating the possibility of landslides, a material such as geomat is widely used. With its help, you can protect the soil from exposure to large amounts of moisture, preventing erosion and deformation. In order for the use of geomat to be as effective as possible, it is necessary to adhere to a certain technology that contributes to the creation of a reliable and durable reinforcing structure.

All work on laying geomat is divided into three main stages - preparatory, main and final.

Preparatory work involves leveling and cleaning the working surface, as well as strengthening the soil. To install fasteners, anchor trenches are created along the edges.

The main stage is to lay the geomat over the entire required surface of the slope. The laid material is reinforced with anchors at a distance of one meter. If you subsequently plan to plant shrubs, willow spears are used for fastening. Geomat sheets are laid in such a way that each subsequent one overlaps the previous one. These areas must be secured every half meter. After installation is completed, additional fastening is carried out at the rate of two anchors per square meter. The anchor trenches are then backfilled and drainage systems are installed.

The final stage is planting. The sown seeds are covered with a fertile layer of soil five centimeters thick. When strengthening the banks of a body of water, it is more advisable to use crushed stone to fill the mats.

Thus, the use of geomats makes it possible to effectively strengthen slopes and banks without disturbing the ecology and natural landscape. The widespread use of this method is due to the possibility of its use in any conditions and high efficiency.

A batch is considered to be the number of rolls of geomats of the same brand, manufactured according to the same technological regulations, one recipe and accompanied by one quality document. Maximum batch size is 100 rolls. The quality document indicates: - name and (or) trademark of the manufacturer, legal address; - symbol of geomat and designation of real service stations; - batch number and date of manufacture; - results of acceptance tests; - number of rolls or square meters in a batch; - storage conditions and periods; - OTK stamp. 8.2 To control the quality of geomats for compliance with the requirements of this standard, acceptance tests are carried out. From each batch of geomats, 5% of rolls are selected by random sampling, but not less than 3 rolls. From each selected roll, a sample is cut along the entire width of the web in the roll and 1 m along its length for subsequent cutting of samples during testing. 8.3 Acceptance tests are carried out according to the following indicators: - appearance of geomats, presence of defects; - quality of winding rolls; - thickness, width and length of the geomat sheet; - surface density of the geomat fabric; - breaking load (in longitudinal and transverse directions); - relative elongation at break (in longitudinal and transverse directions);

5 - marking; - package. 8.4 If the test results are unsatisfactory for at least one indicator, a double number of rolls newly selected from the same batch should be checked for this indicator. The results of repeated tests are final. If the results of repeated tests are unsatisfactory, the entire batch is rejected. A rejected batch can be subjected to 100% control in all respects for sorting. 8.5 Periodic tests are carried out on every tenth batch in the scope of acceptance tests and additionally, in terms of flexibility at low temperatures. 8.6 When changing raw materials, recipes or manufacturing technology of geomats, type tests are carried out. The type testing program includes the full scope of acceptance and periodic tests and, additionally, the following tests: - for chemical resistance; - resistance to mold fungi; - for frost resistance. 9 Test methods 9.1 Control of the appearance of the geomat and the presence of defects is carried out visually during the production and winding of the geomat into a roll by comparison with a reference sample. 9.2 The width of the geomat is measured along the edges of the web with a metal tape measure in accordance with GOST. The length of the geomat is determined using a meter counter installed on the winding device with a measurement error of no more than 1%. 9.3 The thickness of the geomat is determined according to GOST R at a pressure on the sample of 2 kPa. 9.4 Determination of surface density is carried out according to GOST R. Breaking loads and elongations at break are determined according to ISO (sample width is at least 200 mm, distance between clamps is at least 100 mm). 9.6 Loss of strength when testing for frost resistance is determined using the method described below. From the sample selected for laboratory testing, 6 samples are cut to determine the breaking load in the initial state and after frost resistance tests. Preliminary tensile load tests are carried out for the initial samples according to ISO. Three strips of geomat are cut in the longitudinal and transverse directions and laid on the bottom of the metal bath. Distilled water is poured into the bath so that the water level above the samples is not lower than 15 mm. The bath with samples is placed in a freezer in which the temperature is set to (minus 15 ± 2) C, and kept under these conditions for 8 hours. After this, the bath with samples is removed from the freezer and completely defrosted for 16 hours at room temperature (18-30) C. 25 cycles of freezing and thawing are carried out. Then the samples are removed from the bath, dried in a drying cabinet at a temperature of (60±2) C for 16 hours, and the samples are tested for breaking load according to ISO. The reduction in strength after defrosting in % is calculated by the formula: where: R is the breaking load of the sample in the original condition; R1 is the breaking load of the sample after frost resistance testing. The value of strength loss when testing for frost resistance is taken as the arithmetic mean of the test results of all samples, with an accuracy of 1%. 9.7 Resistance to chemical media is determined according to GOST method 2 with exposure of samples for 7 days in a solution of sulfuric acid with pH 3 and in a solution of sodium hydroxide with pH Resistance to mold fungi is determined according to GOST Flexibility at negative temperatures is determined according to GOST 2678 (p 3.9 at R=10 and temperature minus 5 C) Requirements for equipment and measuring instruments: tensile testing machine with vice clamps for samples with a width of at least 200 mm, with a constant rate of load increase, with a load measurement error of no more than ±1%; drying cabinet with heating temperature up to 350 C; electronic scales with weighing accuracy ±0.3 mg according to GOST 29329; metal measuring tape according to GOST 7502 with measurement error ±1 mm.
